Beaver encounter- swam to within three feet of me.
Переглядів 3507 років тому
I was standing in the middle of a stream while I waited for my timelapse rig to finish creating a timelapse. My friend shouted to me, and when I looked up, I saw a beaver swimming up the stream in my direction. After it made a pit stop on a small island, the beaver swam to within three feet of my legs. Wonderful encounter.

Vehicle Fire- Decorah, Iowa, 12-12-14

Vehicle fire in the Viking Theater parking lot on 12-12-14. This video starts after I used a small fire extinguisher to attempt to put the fire out. I was unsuccessful: my extinguisher was too small, and the closed engine hood prevented access to the fire inside the engine compartment.

Amazing experience❤❤
I was in them waters once. A hippopotamus appeared and devoured two of my friends. It was too scary and I never returned.
You must have been on some pretty heavy stuff ! OMG.😂
Wife and I are going in a few weeks. Will sit on top kayaks work for novices?
does anybody have or know of a source for the Garmin .gpx files for the Buffalo River adventures. thanks
About to do this float in a week. Used to be a guide in the BWCAW, but this looks just as fun and beautiful. Super stoked after watching this!
That’s my favorite section of the river. ❤️ it!
Never wear a backpack in a canoe
Great footage!! How many hours did your trip take from Ponca to Kyles landing?
Love the Grateful Dead shirt at 9:36
I drove to Steel Creek campground a few days ago. November 29, 2021. Water very low in creeks, but fine on river. Awesome bluffs showing more with leaves gone. Two horses crossed, 2'-3' deep.
Wish I could float that section just one time. What a sight it would be to see Roark's Bluff and Hemmend n Hallow waterfall in person plus in the same day.
IN APRIL THAT RIVER BECOMES A TORRENT.
A what please tell me what you mean
She's a pretty good bow beau...
I would loose my s!@t if I ever had someone like that in the boat with me.
Who are the 12 people who didn't like that?
Does anybody know of any companies that run shuttles on the Buffalo. My wife and I are a solo act.
Maximum effort from ole girl.
In all the dozens of float trips I've taken in my life since childhood, I don't think there's been a single one with class II rapids and a canoe where the canoe hasn't tipped, grounded on rock, or ran into a log at least once.
So definitely expect something crazy
I've probably got 5,000 miles canoeing under my belt and never flipped. Just takes an experienced guide. I will say 3 and above gets very very tricky in a canoe. Takes 2 ppl coordinating extremely well
Love the Buffalo!
Doing Ponca to Carver for the 1st time this May. Really can't wait
I would recommend to all paddlers to NOT wear a backpack while padding, even better wear a life jacket...
That is a death trap, entrapment on her back.
Thank you for the tip. I usually love to half my backpack on me. Not sure how crazy this river gets. But I'm sure I'm not getting in that water with no lifejacket
@@ozark.explorer I’m familiar with the Buffalo River from low water to flood stage along with other class 1 through Class 5 rivers. As well as being an ACA swift water instructor. Wearing a backpack while on water is asking for trouble when the unexpected happens. Not wearing a life jacket because “most” people don’t is also a easy way to find trouble. Careful with your advice as you may be directing people with not as much experience, skill and resourcefulness, what as you.
@@WilliamFontaineJr Fair, comment deleted. Thank you.
Absolutely.. there are spaghetti strainers all over the rivers here in AR.. it would be VERY easy to get your Pack snagged up and the flow will push your body underwater.. no packs os very good advice.. and ALWAYS wear a life jacket.. one bonk on the head and it's over without a life jacket on
Very relaxing to watch. Great video. I have been on this river twice
What time of year was this shot in?
Nice video. Thanks from Auckland New Zealand.
Nice steersmanship smooth ride. I have done the Buffalo many time. Enjoyed you vid.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
My favorite river
Nice river, too bad it is a bit far for me. Did you use a GoPro camera?
Really nice video. As others have said, thanks for not adding music. How many days & nights were you out? Diff you have a canoeing outfitter set you up with equipment and drop-off/pick-up, or was this a full DIY undertaking?
Question for anyone who has been on this river.. me and my wife are going here and we have a 8 year old and a 1 year old. Would it be to dangerous to take the 1 year old? I really want my wife to go on with me but she thinks it's a bad idea
Definitely do not bring a one year old onto the Buffalo River. It has challenging rapids in places. Additionally, you should never risk your child's life by putting them into a situation that you are not 100% familiar with ahead of time.
@@jkjome85 well put! Thanks for the advice
Go around buffalo access point (south of yellville). One of the better access points on the river.During summer the water is clear and slower moving. 1 year old can be a lot of work (sunscreen, shade, and hydration). About 4 year old, tow some behind canoe with life vest... on tube or noodles if kid likes that. Our kids recall years after about the fun, alll the turtles and fish visible. Judgement should be on kids liking water/outdoors.
Shit boring ass hell
Thanks for a great video! I sent the link to my dad in the nursing home. We used to float down the Buffalo in the 70's and you made it possible for us to do it again, without the bugs! :)
This comment just made my heart smile 🥰💜
Would want to have a backpack on if I dumped!
homegirl is doing a good job
Reminds me of the many weekends I spent there "back in the day". Amazing to see how much the channel has changed in a mere 20 years.
Thank you so much for not playing music in the background. This video is perfection
Awesome video. I need to go visit this beautiful river.
You gotta love the Buff>>> Gods Country.
although i've lived in Denver Colorado the last 39 years i grew up hanging out on the Buffalo river briings back memories
Headed there to do five day trip this summer!! Can’t wait!
Excellent video. We are hoping to do a 3 day 2 night - Ponca to Carver in April 2019. Thanks for publishing this video. Take a look at my canoeing videos (Current, Jack's Fork and 11 Point rivers in MO) - if you ever have time. Thanks Nate Park
We’re doing the exact same trip in May. Hope the water is good for y’all!
Ever float the North Fork of the White River?
@@bobforer5798 I have not yet. I did backpack along part of it. I really want to float the upper stretches. I like to camp overnight on the river, how is the river camping on the North Fork?
cool video thank u for not playing music in the backround it makes you feel like the viewer is paddling when you watch this. Cool
We advertise private and commercial caves both for sale and touring caves. We found a buyer for the Onyx cave and currently are advertising the Hurricane River Cave and have found buyers for two private caves that are miles long. realozarkland.com/commercial/
The girl on the bow is working it
looks like it was a lot of fun! I just took my girlfriend canoeing down the lower Salt River here in Arizona. its a 12mile/4.5hr float. She's totally addicted now, which gives me the best excuse to go again!
👍💤💤💤 look like a fun time good video James KCMO
That looks awesome. I must do this.
Wow I remember going into this cave when I was younger. It was one of my favorites. I ran into a couple of guys fishing by the water entrance to Cold water cave and they showed me this one. It's been almost ten years and I have forgotten the road it was off. All I remember was it being off a gravel road in northern Iowa that was a number like 135 or something. Would you be willing to share the location with me?
Hello Joshua! I'm happy to hear that you got the opportunity to experience Skunk Cave. Unfortunately, I cannot share the location of this cave due to the fact that it is on Private Property. However, there may be an opportunity for you to go caving in Skunk Cave with myself and other Iowa Grotto (NSS) members coming up soon. Send me a private message if you are interested.
Looks like a great time!
Great video! Awesome job! I know that was fun!!
